Born Out of Tragedy

At the same time that I was searching and hoping for this source of healing, Michael Thomas was facing loss and a life-threatening disease of his own. Many great inventions are born from tragedy—this one is no exception. It took TWO life-altering, life-threating events to birth it.

Several years ago, Michael’s son, who was a great athlete and professional snowboarder, came down wrong after doing an aerial jump and shattered his ankle.

After reconstructive surgery on the ankle, the pain he was enduring was excruciating. The doctor who did the surgery gave him painkillers, but they were not strong enough. He called the doctor and asked for something stronger since he was in horrible pain all the time. They ignored his request, and he then went to another individual, a personal friend and physical trainer, who gave him something else for the pain.

Tragic mistake. He took what the medical doctor had prescribed originally as well as what the other person had given him, and less than an hour later he went into a coma and died.

Michael was devastated and went into a deep depression for about six months. But it was that tragedy that led Michael to begin work on developing an all-natural, ointment that would not react adversely with any pharmaceutical pain relievers. See, Michael was one of only a few master chemists and master herbalists of the cosmetic chemistry in the world; he had literally mastered every area of hair, skin and oral chemistry. He created some of the products and formulations that are in use everyday for Redken, Matrix, American Crew, Paul Mitchell, Biolage and many, many others. These major companies would call Michael in to work with them on chemical formulations when they wanted to create a new product.

He did not want another parent to experience what he had experienced. He wanted his son’s life and his life to count for something. And he was determined to take his expertise in chemistry and herbalism and use it for good.

“Dead Man Walking”

It was while he was working on this all-natural formula – made up of vials of traditional healing herbs and botanicals – that he had his own brush with death.

He had taken his wife to their family physician to do some blood work for detoxing purposes. While there, the doctor said, “Hey, Michael as long as you’re in here, let’s go ahead and test you to see what heavy metal toxicity you have.” He agreed.

Three weeks later the doctor called Michael’s wife and said, “You and Michael have to come to the center. I need to see you right away!” They immediately went to the center, where the doctor started crying, dropped to her knees, took Michael’s wife’s hands in hers, and said “Michael is a dead man walking.”

His blood work had come back and the results revealed that he was struck with various “end of life” rare blood cancers. The doctor informed Michael he could die within the hour or in several months and told him and his wife to go home, get his legal affairs in order, and say his goodbyes.

What happened next can only be described as miraculous.

He went home, knelt down, and said, “Lord, if you want me to go, thy will be done. Take me if that is what your plan is for me. But, if I die, what I have been developing dies with me. There is no one to carry this work forward. Please bless me with the Spirit that I might be guided where to go and how to do this.”

God answered Michael’s prayer in a surprising way. As he was burning a CD – a routine occurrence for him – he felt like God told him, “Think about what you are doing”. The voice came again: “Think about what you are doing!” Michael thought to himself, “I’m just burning a CD! So what?”

After a few more moments, it hit Michael, and he was stunned… in the case of the CD, a laser light was transferring information onto a silicone disk. The information is 99% correct and the disk can be used for many, many years. And for the first time, Michael had the vision of what would become HALO.

He realized the light would pick up the vibrational harmonics of the herbs in the vials and carry that vibration to the body. An Einstein-like vision of a “light hypodermic” was born.
